What is Hypnotherapy?

GHRHypnosis for Health

I am counsellor and clinical hypnotherapist based in Leicestershire. I have been qualified for around 10 years having previously worked in Human Resources for a large International company. A strong interest in health, well being and welfare led me to continue my studies, progressing from HR into counselling then hypnotherapy enabling me to offer support and guidance to those in need and help them move on in their life.

Having experienced the positive effects of this type of therapy myself and seeing the results and delighted faces and change in the people I see, I am my own testament to the true power of counselling and hypnosis as a complimentary effective medical intervention. As a result and with my years of experience I am able to understand and empathise with my clients on a deep level which can facilitate great change.

Hypnotherapy can be instant, requiring nothing of you but a willingness to change. By working together, it is your subconscious mind that can bring about instant and lasting behavioural change, without the need for extensive therapy sessions.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis can best be described as when a persons mind enters an altered state of consciousness, like day dreaming. You are not in a deep sleep and not aware of what’s going on around you, you are awake the whole time, but in a deep trance like state. When in this trance state, the subconscious mind becomes extremely active and is more alert and imaginative than during a normal awake state. It’s at this point your subconscious mind takes over from your conscious and facilitate great change.

You have complete control throughout the session and you are awake, you could choose to end the therapy at any point if you wished. As your therapist I will guide you safely using professional techniques to achieve the results that we have previously agreed upon during consultation.

Your subconscious mind listens to my voice in a subliminal way and when I talk directly to your subconscious mind in this deeply relaxed state, this is then where we make the positive suggestions that automatically sit comfortably in your mind. When you come back into full conscious awareness these thoughts are enacted immediately.

All you need to do is truly want to change and be committed to it. Then you can sit back and relax in safety and comfort and let me do the rest. Often people have secondary conditions bought on by the presenting issue and we can review these independently, but an immediate and lasting change can be made that easily.

Contact me now and say goodbye to worry, dieting, cravings, stress, anxiety and any old behaviours or habits that don’t work for you any more – know that you can look, feel and be different!

Losing Weight As You get Older

The older we get the harder it is to lose weight unfortunately.

We know its unhealthy to be overweight. We know that additional body fat can cause problems for our internal organs, our blood pressure and our bones and joints which which are all ailments that appear to rise with age.

This is another good reason to to reduce weight and improve your health and quality of life. With age the importance of weight loss can jostle for position with all the other responsibilities, lifestyle and health niggles we face.

But as medical experts continue to predict the rise of obesity especially with our reliance on processed foods and sugary drinks we must reassess our priorities and perhaps refocus. Obesity shortens lifespan and can lead to classic diseases such as heart failure and diabetes.

So achieving and maintaining a healthy weight as you get older may be the best way of improving your health and prolonging your life.

To help you refocus, see how hypnosis for health and weight loss can help you.

Know Your Nuts

Leicester Therapy Centre

There is a lot of talk about eating nuts and seeds as a healthy snack, and quite right too.

A good variety of raw nuts like almonds, pecans, macadamia and brazil nuts in your diet add many health benefits giving you a whole host of powerful vitamins, minerals and fats, essential for your good health.

Nuts and seeds contain heart healthy fats which maintain the normal structure of every cell in our body. The problem with nuts and weight loss is when we eat too much of them. A small handful of raw sunflower seeds can be 150 cals, have that twice a day for a week and you have added 2100 calories into your diet which will impact your weight loss goals.

Incorporate them into your meal planning and if necessary measure out your portions in advance. I know it’s all to easy to scoff a good few anything¬†before you get to the actual portion part. Have say around 20g of mixed nuts with an apple as one of your daily snacks and you will see how it¬†diminshes hunger pangs¬† as well as giving you important protein based energy.

Try it for a week instead of your usual snack and see how you get on.

Virtual Gastric Band Hypnotherapy Procedure

Hypnosis Health Clinic Leics UK; Dubai UAE

I get a lot of queries about the virtual gastric band hypnotherapy, it is a very effective procedure and the results gained thorough an entirely natural and safe process can be staggering.

A lot of inquirers tell me that they have been considering going in for the real operation as they think they ‘have tried every diet under the sun’ to no avail, but whilst researching¬†gastric band surgery¬†luckily have come across my information and have got in touch for more information.

Another common theme is that a lot of these ladies and gents do not have that much weight to lose. I mean, I know we have our BMI guidelines, weight/height/body type ratios but a lot of you just want to be able to fit in a decent size pair of jeans or a pretty dress again. But in sheer desperation are now considering going in for a very costly, very high risk operation. Is that you?

The¬†danger with weight loss surgery is that as long as you have the money (thousands of pounds),¬†you can be in tomorrow getting cut open and having bits of you removed or modified. Does your stomach make you eat, or is it your mind?¬†Most weight gain is down to mindless eating and drinking, comfort eating or self soothing. Just because you have half your stomach removed won’t make your cravings any less, in fact it is reported it makes them even stronger as you become more willful in ways to still ingest calorific foods.

Another symptom of bariatric surgery that patients have recorded is an increased level of alcohol consumption. This is a direct result of trying to fulfill your emotional needs from an external substance, be that food or alcohol (Can a gastric band make you an alcoholic?) the emotional patterns and cycles continue, and you are still not happy Рor slimmer.

Whether you meet the criteria for the virtual gastric band hypnotherapy or not, weight loss by hypnosis is achievable for everyone. The first part of the work is we look at your lifestyle, emotions and feelings around food, and I work with you to give YOU the CONTROL back. Get your control back over food so you can become the size and shape you want to be, once and for all.

Yes it will require will power, yes you will have to change your food and eating habits, yes you will have to do some exercise or activity. What you won’t get is any ‘fad’ advice, diet plans, food replacements, regiments or a depressing carb free existence to not look forward to (carbs are necessary for good serotonin production overnight¬†so it IS recommended that you can eat them, even¬†at night).

There is nothing more satisfying to see someone let go of all that ‘diet’ baggage and simply make healthier choices because that’s¬†what they actually want to do. To say ‘no thank you’ to a piece¬†of cake or dessert and¬†not feel secretly gutted about it. How would you rather feel? Happy with your healthier choice and losing weight or constantly worrying about what you can eat next?

I am not saying you can never again eat chocolate or have pizza, instead you will have the power and control to think, that you just don’t want it TODAY.

I have some great clients and they keep inspiring¬†which inturn makes me¬†inspire you, one of my ladies had her surgery consultation in Spring (she only had around 3 stone to lose)¬†luckily got in touch with me before the operation and is currently¬†2 st 7 lbs¬†lighter and hasn’t touched a sweet/chocolate/cake/biscuit (her vices) since. All whilst cooking and eating the same as the rest of the family, going on holiday, working, socialising – all the things that we have to do every day/week/month and year.

I have also worked with ladies for whom unfortunately gastric band surgery hasn’t gone to plan and have been in immense danger which is unbelievably sad and frightening, I will cover more about this in another future¬†post.

You want to be slim fit and healthy, you want to get into that pair of jeans again, you want to wear that little dress in the party season, see what hypnotherapy for weight loss can do for you. As long as you are ready to make the change, hypnotherapy will help you achive your goals.

Please feel free to get in touch with any queries via email, Facebook or Twitter @Hypno_Health¬†let’s get you on the right track to becoming slim and¬†healthy easily, once and for all.

How many calories in a teaspoon of sugar?

Hypnosis-Health Clinics  Leicester UK Dubai UAE

How many calories do you think there are in one teaspoon of sugar? If you want to get technical, one 4g teaspoon of sugar?

16 Kcal in 1 Tsp of sugar.

What did you guess, does it sound a lot? A little? The trouble is, all these little teaspoons of sugar add up to quite a lot of calories over a day, week,  month or year.

E.G. You take 2 sugars in your cuppa, you have around 4 cups of tea a day, over one year that equates to an extra stone in weight. When people steadily put weight on over the years it often comes on¬†as a stone a year. This could be just down to your ‘2 sugars in your tea’ habit. Quit the sugared tea’s, you could lose¬†a stone right there.

Here are some more sugar facts for you to consider, how many teaspoons of sugar are there in;

  • A can of fizzy drink – up to 9 tsp
  • Standard Mars Bar – 9 tsp
  • Fruit Shoot drink – nearly 5 tsp
  • Burger King meal – 10 tsp
  • White Loaf Bread – 3 tsp

Sugar does nothing to enhance your health or body. The substance is physically addictive and for some people the lure of sugary products is as strong for them like a drug addicts cravings.

In simplistic forms, just cutting down on empty, excess sugar calories in cups of tea, fizzy drinks and fast foods you will be benefitting already. Depending on healthy you want or need to be, you can then looker deeper into all the hidden sugars that you might be surprised to find in your everyday savoury and sweet foods. Read more about hidden sugars in this article from The Mirror newspaper.

Know Your Bananas!

Hypnosis Health in Leicester UK and Dubai UAE

Many a dieter has told me ‘Oh I don’t eat bananas, they’re fattening’ To which I’ve learnt to not choke in reply but ask incredulously, why do you think that?

Look, if you have some weight to lose, don’t tell me you’re afraid of a banana when you’ve clearly been at the cakes, biscuits, sweets, chocolates, crisps, chips, pizza, burgers n ice cream. You get the picture.

Banana’s or any of our great natures foods and fruits are the most nutritious and balanced foods we can eat. Yes even that great carb horror the humble potato¬†is¬† a good source of vitamin B6, vitamin C, copper, potassium, manganese, and dietary fibre. It’s what we do with them that adds the fat factor unfortunately.

Anyhoo back to bananas. I always recommend eating bananas for good health. The natural sugars that are in a banana can change the nutritional content substantially as it ripens, this is what I ask my clients to be aware of.

Calories in a medium banana

Calories 95.0kcal
Carbohydrate 20.9g
Protein 1.2g
Fat 0.3g
Fibre 4.2g

Not that scary is it? Low fat, plenty of fibre and good carbs for your days energy.

I recommend that you eat bananas when they are perfectly yellow, when they are just ripe, firm and not too sweet. Never eat a banana when it is still green as it contains indigestible starches and less easily digestible sugars, which means you will bloat.

When your banana is as ripe as this, the calorie content doesn’t change but it will contain more sugar.¬†It’s starch (complex carbs) changes to simple sugars as it ripens¬†and will cause a higher spike in your blood sugar levels after you eat it.

You can freeze over ripe bananas or use them as healthy milkshakes blended up with milk for the kids. Completely no artificial ingredients added and much better than any Nesquik.

If you need further convincing, check out further¬†benefits of eating bananas –

  • Anti-aging properties. Bananas carry vitamins A, B6, C, E, F, iodine, potassium, magnesium, zinc, and iron. These gems will keep your skin looking young.
  • Your heart loves bananas. The potassium keeps your heart in tip top shape.
  • Marvelous for your kidneys and bones¬†¬†thanks again to potassium. The potassium restrains calcium excretion in your urine ‚Äď minimizing the risk of nasty kidney stones. Say goodbye to osteoporosis! Bananas keeps you from losing calcium from you body.
  • Bananas can¬†help with¬†depression. Bananas contain Tryptophan which produces serotonin in your body, which will calm your brain and make you relaxed and help sleep.
  • They‚Äôll help keep you regular. Your colon will love you because of the fibre.
  • Suffer from¬†gout? Arthritis? Bananas contain B6, folate and vitamin C ‚Äď all enemies of gout and arthritis.
  • Too much¬†alcohol Saturday night? Put that coffee down and grab a banana. It‚Äôll raise your blood sugar levels and re-hydrate your body.
  • Low iron levels? Anemia? Bananas can activate the production of hemoglobin in your blood.
  • Ulcers? Bananas neutralise acidity and lessens irritation by coating the lining of your stomach.
  • Too stressed out? Potassium sends oxygen to the brain and normalises your heartbeat. It won‚Äôt take your problems away, but it‚Äôll make them more tolerable.
  • Are you a smoker? Bananas help cigarette addicts give up smoking. The B6, B12, magnesium and potassium assist in getting rid of nicotine withdrawal symptoms.
  • Bananas contain prebiotic, which help stimulate the growth and activity of pre-existing good bacteria in your digestive system.¬† Your gut wins!
  • Relieves heartburn

Still don’t want a banana? I usually have¬†mine in the morning, chopped up over some Weetabix or All Bran. How will you have yours?

Are you addicted to Chocolate? Try My Chocolate Therapy Programme

Leicester Therapy Centre

Do you think you are addicted to chocolate? How much chocolate do you eat a week.. or a day? Are you happy with a treat size or do you go for the extra large version of your favourite chocolate bar?

For some people, chocolate¬†is their¬†drug of choice, and the substance they turn to get¬†their ‘fix’ is smooth, glossy, shiny often beautifully wrapped and readily available from corner shops to vending machines. Maybe you’re the type of person who cannot have a small piece, you must have the whole bar or box?!

A lot of my clients claim to have very healthy eating plans but once the demon chocolate raises it head, then all self-control is out of the window and we stuff as much chocolate down our necks as possible, leaving us feeling guilty and wishing we hadn’t touched the stuff. Never mind the increase in weight gained.

Being truly addicted to something is a serious matter but the good news is you do have the power to change this behaviour and overcome your chocolate habit. It’s said that it takes 21 days to break a habit, so if you manage to¬†e.g. not bite your nails for 21 days you are well on your way to¬†never biting your nails again.

To help support you through breaking your chocolate addiction, I have devised my Chocolate Therapy Programme to help you break your habit once and for all. You will find it easy to refrain from eating chocolate, losing weight if you need to and no longer sabotaging your dieting efforts.

In a single session we will control your cravings and with Hypnosis help you to keep off chocolate for a minimum of 21 days, after which you will have broken your habit and feel fitter, healthier and lighter and no longer wanting to have your chocolate fix.

The session is £135 and lasts 1.5 Р2 hours in my private retreat in rural South Leicestershire. I will also teach you tools that you will use to help yourself to stick to your goals, and finally get control back over your chocolate eating habits! Become leaner, healthier, fitter and happier, call me to see how I can help you now.

See my Hypnotherapy and Counselling in Leicestershire website, I’m also on Facebook. Call me on Freephone 0800 62 8159 for your free telephone consultation or email leicstherapy@gmail.com I look forward to hearing from you soon.
