Know Your Nuts

There is a lot of talk about eating nuts and seeds as a healthy snack, and quite right too.

A good variety of raw nuts like almonds, pecans, macadamia and brazil nuts in your diet add many health benefits giving you a whole host of powerful vitamins, minerals and fats, essential for your good health.

Nuts and seeds contain heart healthy fats which maintain the normal structure of every cell in our body. The problem with nuts and weight loss is when we eat too much of them. A small handful of raw sunflower seeds can be 150 cals, have that twice a day for a week and you have added 2100 calories into your diet which will impact your weight loss goals.

Incorporate them into your meal planning and if necessary measure out your portions in advance. I know it’s all to easy to scoff a good few anything before you get to the actual portion part. Have say around 20g of mixed nuts with an apple as one of your daily snacks and you will see how it diminshes hunger pangs  as well as giving you important protein based energy.

Try it for a week instead of your usual snack and see how you get on.

I get a lot of queries about the virtual gastric band hypnotherapy, it is a very effective procedure and the results gained thorough an entirely natural and safe process can be staggering.

A lot of inquirers tell me that they have been considering going in for the real operation as they think they ‘have tried every diet under the sun’ to no avail, but whilst researching gastric band surgery luckily have come across my information and have got in touch for more information.

Another symptom of bariatric surgery that patients have recorded is an increased level of alcohol consumption. This is a direct result of trying to fulfill your emotional needs from an external substance, be that food or alcohol (Can a gastric band make you an alcoholic?) the emotional patterns and cycles continue, and you are still not happy – or slimmer.

Whether you meet the criteria for the virtual gastric band hypnotherapy or not, weight loss by hypnosis is achievable for everyone. The first part of the work is we look at your lifestyle, emotions and feelings around food, and I work with you to give YOU the CONTROL back. Get your control back over food so you can become the size and shape you want to be, once and for all.

Yes it will require will power, yes you will have to change your food and eating habits, yes you will have to do some exercise or activity. What you won’t get is any ‘fad’ advice, diet plans, food replacements, regiments or a depressing carb free existence to not look forward to (carbs are necessary for good serotonin production overnight so it IS recommended that you can eat them, even at night).

There is nothing more satisfying to see someone let go of all that ‘diet’ baggage and simply make healthier choices because that’s what they actually want to do. To say ‘no thank you’ to a piece of cake or dessert and not feel secretly gutted about it. How would you rather feel? Happy with your healthier choice and losing weight or constantly worrying about what you can eat next?

I am not saying you can never again eat chocolate or have pizza, instead you will have the power and control to think, that you just don’t want it TODAY.

I have some great clients and they keep inspiring which inturn makes me inspire you, one of my ladies had her surgery consultation in Spring (she only had around 3 stone to lose) luckily got in touch with me before the operation and is currently 2 st 7 lbs lighter and hasn’t touched a sweet/chocolate/cake/biscuit (her vices) since. All whilst cooking and eating the same as the rest of the family, going on holiday, working, socialising – all the things that we have to do every day/week/month and year.

I have also worked with ladies for whom unfortunately gastric band surgery hasn’t gone to plan and have been in immense danger which is unbelievably sad and frightening, I will cover more about this in another future post.

Many people suffer from bloating, IBS, stomach cramps ect and its an awful feeling. There are many over the counter remedy but natures way is always the best way, unfortunately these remedies don’t have the financial backing as the super companies do, so their benefits can be lost along the way.

If you have trouble going to the loo for whatever reason, you need to add Psyllium Husks to your diet.

‘Psyllium husk is an excellent source of soluble dietary fibre derived from the small herbaceous plant Plantago. Dietary fibre can help promote regularity and support heart health as well as helping with satiety after meals.

Psyllium Husk Powder can be a convenient way to increase your intake of dietary fibre. It has the ability to swell up to 50 times its initial volume when added to liquid which plays an important role in maintaining regularity and gastrointestinal health. It has also been shown to help lower cholesterol.

A daily fibre intake of at least 25 grams is recommended for good health, but on average people consume only 10 to 15 grams.

Psyllium husk is often used in high fibre breakfast cereals to boost the fibre content’

This can be bought very cheaply from Ethnic food stores or you will find it easily online, add it to your daily diet to see the difference it can make to you, immediately! All you need is a good spoonful added to a glass of water taken in the morning with breakfast, it couldn’t be easier to keep yourself healthy on the inside.

Whats your excuse not to work out? We can make all the excuses we like but really there is no excuse that will justify you not being fit and healthy. Keep fit doesn’t mean endless mind numbing hours at the gym, do something you enjoy like a social sport like tennis or roam the countryside on your bicycle, it should be something you enjoy  and not a chore.

I workout outdoors where ever possible, the scenery is ever changing and the fresh air makes a world of difference. I also travel a lot so belonging to any gym doesn’t work out for me. You don’t have to splash out on any expensive equipment either and nowadays a lot of exercise routines and advice are available online, to keep you motivated and give you something different every time.

Below is one of the workouts I enjoy doing and I like it because unlike lots of ab work, you can stand and do it, which is great when I am on my travels and space is tight. Tiffany has lots of mini workouts online great for women so give it a go! See what you think and you can put something together for yourself that you really enjoy.

Why You Should Be Using Coconut Oil

What oils do you use to cook with? Vegetable oils, Olive oils, butter or ghee? Different oils have many different properties and you absolutely need fats and oils in your body for good health – particularly if you are trying to loose weight.

Vegetable oils have no place in your diet, its highly processed and you will find this in abundance in your cakes, biscuits, sweets and crisps. Real Olive oil is very beneficial for good heart health and is best consumed as a drizzle, heating it can change it’s molecular structure so you lose the benefits.

Butter is ok to eat. There, I said it. What do you think is better for you, a completely dairy natural product with no additives or a tub of trans-fat lardiness that will NEVER ROT. EVER. That’s right, leave a tub of margarine or low fat spread out in the kitchen and it will stay exactly the same. You could even leave it out in the garden for years and not a bird, animal or insect will touch it. What do you think that’s doing to your insides?

A lot of people use those 1 kcal spray oils, take a look at the ingredients in these things. If you must, please use sparingly and rarely. Having tried to cook (unsuccessfully) various ways without oil, minimal oil, oil replacements and ‘steam frying in water’ I am thankful to have discovered the wonder of cooking with coconut oil. So beneficial for you, you can eat it by the spoonful.

Hypnotherapy for Deep Relaxation

How many calories in a teaspoon of sugar?

How many calories do you think there are in one teaspoon of sugar? If you want to get technical, one 4g teaspoon of sugar?

16 Kcal in 1 Tsp of sugar.

What did you guess, does it sound a lot? A little? The trouble is, all these little teaspoons of sugar add up to quite a lot of calories over a day, week,  month or year.

E.G. You take 2 sugars in your cuppa, you have around 4 cups of tea a day, over one year that equates to an extra stone in weight. When people steadily put weight on over the years it often comes on as a stone a year. This could be just down to your ‘2 sugars in your tea’ habit. Quit the sugared tea’s, you could lose a stone right there.

Here are some more sugar facts for you to consider, how many teaspoons of sugar are there in;

  • A can of fizzy drink – up to 9 tsp
  • Standard Mars Bar – 9 tsp
  • Fruit Shoot drink – nearly 5 tsp
  • Burger King meal – 10 tsp
  • White Loaf Bread – 3 tsp

Sugar does nothing to enhance your health or body. The substance is physically addictive and for some people the lure of sugary products is as strong for them like a drug addicts cravings.

In simplistic forms, just cutting down on empty, excess sugar calories in cups of tea, fizzy drinks and fast foods you will be benefitting already. Depending on healthy you want or need to be, you can then looker deeper into all the hidden sugars that you might be surprised to find in your everyday savoury and sweet foods.
