Stop Emotional Eating with Hypnotherapy

Keep food and emotions apart with the Stop Emotional Eating Hypnosis

The need for sustenance, for food, is the most elemental need we are aware of, the first need we are aware of. Because it plays such a primal role in our lives, it can sometimes ‘stand in’ for other, quite different, needs we have. Like our need for love. Or challenge. Or meaning.

The Stop Emotional Eating Hypnotherapy programme was developed to help people who have got caught in the trap of feeding their emotions with food instead of with appropriate action.

We need to recognise and acknowledge the difficulty that emotional eaters have when they try to break this pattern with will-power alone. Emotional eating is not a conscious, deliberate choice. It operates at the unconscious level, and this is where it must be addressed.

Does this sound familiar to you? Break the pattern now and make immediate change to your health and well being.

What is Hypnotherapy?

GHRHypnosis for Health

I am counsellor and clinical hypnotherapist based in Leicestershire. I have been qualified for around 10 years having previously worked in Human Resources for a large International company. A strong interest in health, well being and welfare led me to continue my studies, progressing from HR into counselling then hypnotherapy enabling me to offer support and guidance to those in need and help them move on in their life.

Having experienced the positive effects of this type of therapy myself and seeing the results and delighted faces and change in the people I see, I am my own testament to the true power of counselling and hypnosis as a complimentary effective medical intervention. As a result and with my years of experience I am able to understand and empathise with my clients on a deep level which can facilitate great change.

Hypnotherapy can be instant, requiring nothing of you but a willingness to change. By working together, it is your subconscious mind that can bring about instant and lasting behavioural change, without the need for extensive therapy sessions.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis can best be described as when a persons mind enters an altered state of consciousness, like day dreaming. You are not in a deep sleep and not aware of what’s going on around you, you are awake the whole time, but in a deep trance like state. When in this trance state, the subconscious mind becomes extremely active and is more alert and imaginative than during a normal awake state. It’s at this point your subconscious mind takes over from your conscious and facilitate great change.

You have complete control throughout the session and you are awake, you could choose to end the therapy at any point if you wished. As your therapist I will guide you safely using professional techniques to achieve the results that we have previously agreed upon during consultation.

Your subconscious mind listens to my voice in a subliminal way and when I talk directly to your subconscious mind in this deeply relaxed state, this is then where we make the positive suggestions that automatically sit comfortably in your mind. When you come back into full conscious awareness these thoughts are enacted immediately.

All you need to do is truly want to change and be committed to it. Then you can sit back and relax in safety and comfort and let me do the rest. Often people have secondary conditions bought on by the presenting issue and we can review these independently, but an immediate and lasting change can be made that easily.

Contact me now and say goodbye to worry, dieting, cravings, stress, anxiety and any old behaviours or habits that don’t work for you any more – know that you can look, feel and be different!

What to expect on your first therapy session

Counselling and Hypnotherapy Leicester

Many people take some time before they will consider contacting someone to get help in their private life. You could feel intimidated by the prospect of opening up to someone and admitting to oneself that there is a problem isn’t easy either.

The first step to overcome this is having the insight that there is an issue and it CAN be dealt with, there can be some comfort in this step alone. How bad do things have to get before you can feel better?

Some people visit at crisis point, eg stress or phobia related whilst others have a gentle meander and come along when they know they are absolutely ready to tackle the issue once and for all e.g. to stop smoking.

The overall important factor is the best outcome can only be achieved when you are 100% ready to make the necessary changes in your life. Counselling will help with emotional issues, release concerns and combined with hypnosis can help you to move on in your life, happily, healthily, successfully.

The first session usually comprises of a 60-90 minutes consultation 60-90 where you can tell me about what’s happening in your life and where you want to go with it.  Depending on how you feel a hypnotherapy session is also offered to provide experience of the process and also some comfort as needed.

From this initial session I can then customize your therapy according to your specific needs, and you will have my full support outside of the sessions to keep me updated on how you are doing. You no longer have to fear being alone or having no one to turn to.

So if you feel the need to speak to some one independently and privately and you think counselling and hypnotherapy may help then please feel free to get in touch and I’ll be happy to help put your mind at ease.

Emetophobia – The Fear of Vomiting

Leicester Therapy Centre

What is Emetophobia?

Emetophobia is an intense, irrational fear of being sick. Either yourself or others, often the two fears coincide with each other making it worse for the sufferer.

It is a very common phobia and ranks among one of the Top 10 phobias in the UK. It makes you very afraid of being sick yourself or being in the presence of someone who is either going to be sick or is sick in front of you.

The fear of vomiting (Emetophobia) is debilitating to the sufferers life because you will begin to alter your activities to avoid doing things that have even the slightest chance of making you feel sick.

Causes of Emetophobia

The fear of vomiting is surprisingly common and usually starts because an          incident of vomiting (either your own or someone else) was associated with an extreme fear reaction and then the two (extreme fear and vomiting) become associated in the mind.

Of course no one enjoys vomiting,  it is the bodies natural way of looking after itself so it is in fact a healing process, that you do not need to be afraid of.

If you think you are in fear of being sick, see how hypnotherapy can help you reduce stress and anxiety around your Emetophobia.

Once the association between fear and vomiting is hypnotically changed you will be able to start to relax with the idea of being sick. Then you can start leading your life in a normal and satisfying way again!

Why we should drink water.

Hypnosis Health Leicester

Hypnosis Health Leicester

Why should we have to drink so much water? You hear about it all the time, 1 litre, 2 litres per day. Bottled, sparkling, mineral, glaciar the types of water are endless and for something that comes relativley free from the tap, water companies make oodles of profit on it.

Unlike the snacks and sugar laden fizzy drinks that the manufacturers also push upon us, we really do need to consume water. At least two litres a day for optimum body performance. Buy why? Here a few reasons –

1. Drinking Water Helps Maintain the Balance of Body Fluids. Your body is composed of about 60% water. The functions of these bodily fluids include digestion, absorption, circulation, creation of saliva, transportation of nutrients, and maintenance of body temperature.

When you’re low on fluids, the brain triggers the body’s thirst mechanism. And unless you are taking medications that make you thirsty, you should listen to those cues and get yourself a drink of water, juice, milk, coffee — anything but alcohol. “Alcohol interferes with the brain and kidney communication and causes excess excretion of fluids which can then lead to dehydration,” (Guest)

2. Water Can Help Control Calories. For years, dieters have been drinking lots of water as a weight loss strategy. While water doesn’t have any magical effect on weight loss, substituting it for higher calorie beverages can certainly help.

Food with high water content tends to look larger, its higher volume requires more chewing, and it is absorbed more slowly by the body, which helps you feel full. Water-rich foods include fruits, vegetables, broth-based soups, oatmeal, and beans.

3. Water Helps Energise Muscles. Cells that don’t maintain their balance of fluids and electrolytes shrivel, which can result in muscle fatigue. “When muscle cells don’t have adequate fluids, they don’t work as well and performance can suffer,” says Guest.

4. Water Helps Keep Skin Looking Good. Your skin contains plenty of water, and functions as a protective barrier to prevent excess fluid loss. But don’t expect over-hydration to erase wrinkles or fine lines.

“Dehydration makes your skin look more dry and wrinkled, which can be improved with proper hydration,’  “But once you are adequately hydrated, the kidneys take over and excrete excess fluids.” You can also help “lock” moisture into your skin by using moisturizer, which creates a physical barrier to keep moisture in.

5. Water Helps Your Kidneys. Body fluids transport waste products in and out of cells. The main toxin in the body is blood urea nitrogen, a water-soluble waste that is able to pass through the kidneys to be excreted in the urine, explains Guest. “Your kidneys do an amazing job of cleansing and ridding your body of toxins as long as your intake of fluids is adequate,” he says.

When you’re getting enough fluids, urine flows freely, is light in color and free of odor. When your body is not getting enough fluids, urine concentration, color, and odor increases because the kidneys trap extra fluid for bodily functions.

If you chronically drink too little, you may be at higher risk for kidney stones, especially in warm climates.

6. Water Helps Maintain Normal Bowel Function. Adequate hydration keeps things flowing along your gastrointestinal tract and prevents constipation. When you don’t get enough fluid, the colon pulls water from stools to maintain hydration — and the result is constipation. “Adequate fluid and fiber is the perfect combination, because the fluid pumps up the fiber and acts like a broom to keep your bowel functioning properly,” says Kolemay.

Tips to Help You Drink More Water

If you think you need to be drinking more, here are some tips to increase your fluid intake and reap the benefits of water:

1. Have a drink with every snack and meal.

2. Choose an herbal tea you enjoy; you’re likely to drink more liquids if you like the way they taste.

3. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Their high water content will add to your hydration. About 20% of our fluid intake comes from foods.

4. Keep a bottle of water with you in your car, at your desk, or in your bag.

5. Choose drinks that meet your individual needs. If you’re watching calories, always choose water.
